How do you divide Eclipse?
Stephanie Meyer divided Eclipse into chapters of around 10 pages. Alot of the time the chapters ends when Bella learns something important, or realises something important. That works really well for the book. I think the reason for that is that if you can make a good end of the book people keep thinking about it even after they've finished the book. The way she organizes the story, it makes it so that there is the equivalent of a good end paragraph at the end of every chapter. That makes you anxious to find out what will hapen next, and it gives you another part of the story to think about.
I just wrote about how it makes the book a good book, but this way of organizing is also important to the story. If she didn't put chapters where she did, I don't think that people would completely take in the importance of what just happened in the story. Also, it works for the story because some times if there was no chapter markings it wouldn't really fit. For example, in one chapter it could be that Edward and Jacob are fighting over Bella, and then in the next chapter there is some huge war. It works now but if the 2 different chapters were all in one the story wouldn't flow along as easily as it does now.
