The Power of a Sentence
I think that making specific sentencesvery well, is a sign of a great author. Because I like important sentences alot more that important pages or chapters, I decided to choose one important sentence to share with you.
'I pushed my legs faster, letting Jacob Black disappear behind me.'
If you read that sentence out of context it probably wouldn't mean anything. For example if Edward was saying that maybe he just dropped Bella off in La Push and is now running back to his home 'letting Jacob Black disappear behind' him. But in this context the sentence is very important.
This sentence is the last sentence of the Epilogue, the Epilogue is written in the point of view of Jacob. Jacob turns into a werewolf and starts running, as fast he can. Trying to get away from himself and his life.
I chose this sentence because it leaves me thinking about why he might have done that, and why he would have wanted to do that. I like it because it is meaningful, because I think the readers will feel like they know what Jacob Black is thinking. Not because they can relate their lives to him, but because the author makes it so you know exactly what he's thinking and why he's doing it.
This sentence has a big value to the book because, in that sentence we can understand what Jacob has been feeling during the whole book, watching how much Edward and Bella love eachother, it makes us understand Jacob more and understand his feelings better that almost anyone else in the book.
This sentence doesn't really have much of a value to my life, but it affects how I think of the book. Now I know that the author has created a whole background setting of emotions between everyone and I didn't really know that before. This sentence makes me understand everyone in the book a little bit better.
